About Hiko
Hiko is built by Larsen Studio — an independent app studio focused on evidence-based fitness tools that respect your privacy.
The Mission
Most fitness apps estimate your calories using generic MET tables. Hiko uses the Load Carriage Decision Aid (LCDA) equation published by USARIEM in 2022 — the same metabolic science the US Army uses to plan soldier movement. Hiko brings that precision to everyone who rucks, hikes, or walks with a loaded pack.
What Makes Hiko Different
- LCDA metabolic science — 6 variables, not just weight × time
- Japanese interval walking — 20 years of Shinshu University research
- Automatic terrain detection — via OpenStreetMap
- Sensor fusion — heart rate, speed, altitude, terrain correlation
- 100% on-device — zero data collection, no accounts, no servers
Larsen Studio
Larsen Studio builds tools that respect the user. That means no tracking, no advertising, no data monetization. Every decision Hiko makes happens on your device.
